The Year is nearing its end.

So much has happened to both Blanca and myself this year. If I’m being honest this has been the toughest year in many aspects of our lives.

Coming off a tough marathon race this year it was time to cheer on my wife Blanca. Blanca herself had a tough marathon training season yet she was ready to tackle the half marathon. Blanca raced the BCS Half (Bryan-College Station) while we had other friends running the full.

I was tracking her progress and saw that she was on personal record or PR pace. Her previous PR was a 1:44 and now she crosses the finish at…..1:42 beating her previous best by a whole 2 minutes.

She is celebrating her time with a fist pump. I am very proud of her especially after a rough training season. Not to long after the race we began our journey back to San Antonio.

After what seemed to be a long drive back we finally made it. Time to focus on the upcoming week.

Monday came around and it was time for me to go on my second run. This Monday I ran with IAAP training and completed 5 miles with Belle. She did fantastic! I felt pretty good on this particular day. The rest of the week I was kept busy working on some stuff preparing myself for the upcoming year. I was able to squeeze in a run on Wednesday and let me tell you it was not that easy.

I went out and got it done.

Friday night we went to go visit my wife’s mother. We had dinner and were catching up. It turned into one of those nights when before you know it 11 o’clock rolls around and we had to go.

The following morning or shall I say the following day Blanca and I had two birthday parties to attend. The first was less than half a mile from our apartments which was great. Our friend Kim was celebrating her birthday with friends and a friendly game of bubble soccer. I have to say that was one of the best times I’ve had in quite some time.

This definitely has to be an exciting way to celebrate the day of your birth. Once the fun was over 😓 we went to The Pearl Brewery to have some lunch. We decided on the food hall located right in the heart of The Pearl. I’ve always enjoyed Christmas but as I’ve grown older I have come really love this time of year. The decorations just look so nice and truly makes it feel like Christmas in San Antonio. We finished our lunch and had to rush back because the rain was not going to stop. We arrived home and started working on some pending chores before we were to head right back out that door. Later that evening we were enjoying the company of my wife’s co-workers and family celebrating the 40th birthday of one of her colleagues. The fun and laughter continued through the night but eventuality our time had arrived. We had to go home to our pup Belle. Not too long after we were all closing our eyes and calling it a night.

New additions

Hi everyone! These past couple of weeks have been a little busy for both Blanca and I. Blanca continues her work and her studies. I continue to learn a new trade working with my father. Blanca has always begged me to buy her a dog. I promised we would get her one once we had our home. I honestly thought that would be quite a long time. Well I had to keep my promise and we went to Humane Society. I honestly do not know how it happened but we ended up with two pups. We were able to take them home the following day because they had to be spayed and neutered.

Allow me to introduce to you Chip and Belle.

As you can see in the above pictures Belle is so comfortable she falls asleep while Chip is crying all the way home.

From a family of two to a family of four.

That weekend we had a 10 mile run with our run group. It rained pretty hard the night before making some of the route a bit muddy. We conquered it ! When we arrived at our starting spot we heard more good news. Downtown Run Group also known as D.R.G. is officially a trademark.

This is something that should definitely be celebrated. I am very proud to be a part of D.R.G. This is why I love my Downtown Run Group.

hard day

The following week I was able to sign the sign. What is sign the sign? We get to sign our D.R.G. sign after attending nine training days and you get a D.R.G car magnet. You can only sign you’re first name. If you attend a total of 18 times you can sig  you’re last name as well. By tradition after signing you pose with the sign.

9 times

I was able to sign on a Tuesday evening run at the zoo. On Thursday Blanca and I joined some of our training partners at a local high school for some speed work. I have never set any days aside for speed. I am so glad that it has been implemented for the first time.

speed day

This is why I really appreciate everything D.R.G. does for Blanca and I. It has helped transform many lives and boost a lot of confidence.

If you are ever visiting San Antonio or live here you are welcome to join. Click here to view our Facebook page. All the info about our events are found on here.

I hope everyone has a blessed week. Even though Blanca and I are sometimes very tired we are thankful to our Lord and Savior for his many blessings. Thank you for visiting. As always

…Run Inspired…

Half, Full, 18 days, NOLA!!

Eighteen days left!!!! Blanca and I decided to wake up early yesterday and go for a long run downtown. When we woke up it was pretty darn chilly outside we decided to do the dreadful treadmill. Yes sir the boring treadmill. I figured I would try hard to run 13.1 miles in about 1:50-1:52:00 and Blanca was just going for a long run until she got tired.

Here is Blanca stretching getting ready.

You have no idea how much I dislike running on the treadmill!! Sometimes this is my only option so I deal with it. This particular treadmill only gives you one hour of running. So I decided to go for seven miles within that hour then grab some water and complete the last seven. I didn’t realize I set the treadmill to only run for 47 minutes until the end.

Blanca ended her run at 10 miles and I ended my run at 12.36 miles with a time of 1:47:00.

This morning Blanca and I decided to go visit running shoe stores for fun. Well I was searching for a pair of running gloves which I did find for $12.00 from New Blance. Now Blanca who was not looking for anything was fortunate she came upon a sweet pair of Saucony Mirage 4 worth about $120.00 on sale for $50.00.

She tried them today and she says they were great! She needed new shoes for the full marathon so can you say what a blessing from God!

Anyways I hope everyone has a great day and God Bless!!
